Rod-Cone Dystrophy

Rod-Cone Dystrophy

Treatment(s) Used:
Acupuncture

The retina is composed of rods and cones, the photoreceptor cells in the back of the eye that pick up images from the retina and send them to the brain. Rod-cone dystrophy is a name given to a group eye conditions affecting both rods and cones. Children are born with this condition. Over time, the rods and cones stop working. The patient will eventually go blind.

Improved Vision

Several patients with Rod-Cone Dystrophy have been treated at the Arkansas Acupuncture Center. They exhibit similar patterns of vision loss as those with retinal or macular degeneration. The treatment they receive is similar to treatments given macular degeneration treatments as well as Stargardt’s treatment. Patient response to treatment is positive.
