Myofascial Release

Myofascial release refers to the discovery and release of trigger points, areas of the muscle tissue where lactic acid builds up causing tight bands in the muscles. These tight bands cause a referred pain, pain in an area often far from the sight of the trigger points and need to be massaged in a particular way and punctured with acupuncture needles to bring relief. Certain pain patterns are often related to trigger points, and the most common treated in the Arkansas Acupuncture Center are neck, shoulder and arm pain, as well as certain sciatica conditions. These are so common that Dr. Ryan will almost always test these trigger points if patients complain of certain types or areas of pain.
